EU cautions against banning Uber and Airbnb
Governments should not ban services like Uber or Airbnb, except in last resort, the European Union says in its new guidelines on the sharing economy, which will be released on 2 June. Restrictions on the ‘sharing economy’ should be justified and proportionate, and ‘total bans of an activity constitute a measure of last resort that should be applied only if and where no less restrictive requirements to attain a public interest can be used.’
