ETSI creates a group to work on smart city interoperability

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute has launched an Industry Specification Group on cross-sector Context Information Management (ISG CIM) for smart cities applications and beyond. The group will work on developing specifications and protocols to run ‘on top’ on Internet of Things (IoT) platforms and allow exchange of data and context, in order to ‘extend the interoperability of applications, helping smart cities to integrate their existing services and enable new third-party services’. The first meeting of the group is planned to take place at the ETSI premises in Sophia Antipolis, France, on 9-10 February 2017.
