EDPB issues guidelines on using location data and contact tracing

In the context of COVID-19, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) released guidelines to clarify the conditions and principles for the proportionate use of location data and contact tracing tools. The guidelines are intended  for using data to model the spreading of the virus and contact tracing and to notify individuals that they have been in close proximity of someone who has been confirmed as a carrier of the virus. The guidelines specifically define what data can be collected and how it may be used in compliance with EU legislation.
