Delhi High Court directs social media platforms to adopt measures against child sexual abuse material online

The Delhi High Court in India, has ordered social media platforms to take adequate measure to ensure child sexual abuse content is not hosted in their platforms. This ruling was passed based on a petition seeking to remove child pronographi content from social media platforms.

The court observed that as per the legal obligations of intermediaries under the Information Technology Act, they should not host or allow any child sexual abuse content to be stored or disseminated from their platform and  any such incident should be reported 

The police were also directed to use the protocols and resources available with the National Crime Report Bureau (NCRB) and other agencies for identifying people engaged in uploading such offensive content in India and take action as warranted in accordance with law. was directed to use.
