Data of web-tracking company leaked online

According to TechCrunch, billions of personal information records collected by the data management platform BlueKai were leaked online due to an unsecured server. BlueKai uses website cookies and other tracking technologies to follow users around the web. Security researcher Anurag Sen found a database with BlueKai’ data on a server left unsecured and without a password. The article lists several different examples of individuals whose data was left open for the taking, including a German man who ‘used a prepaid debit card to place a €10 bet on an e-sports betting site on April 19. The record also contained the man’s address, phone number and email address’.
