Data shows that Bangladesh generates 2.8m tonnes of e-waste every year

Data revealed during a workshop organised by Voices for Interactive Choice and Empowerment (VOICE) and the Association for Progressive Communication (APC) points out that e-waste has been increasing by 20% every year in Bangladesh due to lack of regulation. Moreover, it is estimated that around 50,000 children are involved in informal e-waste management, which leads to premature death in 15% of children. The government has amended its ‘e-waste management rules’ a couple of times, but the regulation has still not been enacted.
