Data of 3 million clients compromised in data breach of Italy’s biggest lender

The Italian company UniCredit announced having identified the breach of a database of its 3 million Italian clients. According to Yahoo News, Italy’s biggest lender said no bank details which would permit access to customer accounts or allow for unauthorized transactions had been compromised. Reuters reports that the attacks were carried out via an external commercial partner which UniCredit did not identify. In 2017, the company had already announced having been victim of two cyberattacks, affecting 400.000 Italian customers.
