The city of Dallas, Texas, confirmed Wednesday that several municipal servers suffered a ransomware attack, causing widespread service disruptions, including its 911 dispatch system. The city closed all courts on Wednesday and Thursday. The Royal ransomware gang has claimed responsibility for the attack, threatening to release the stolen data online unless ransoms are paid. However, the City of Dallas is not on its Dark Web leakage site, and it is unclear what type of data was stolen.

The Royal ransomware gang was the subject of a recent joint advisory from cybersecurity agency CISA and the FBI. The group has targeted multiple victims in the USA and abroad, including manufacturing, telecommunications, education and healthcare organisations, the US government agencies warned.
