The Cyber Shield Act was reintroduced in the US Senate

US Legislators reintroduced the Cyber Shield Act in the senate. The bill recommends creating a voluntary cybersecurity certification program for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The bill suggests an advisory committee of cybersecurity experts from academia, industry, consumer advocates, government, and the public will be in charge of defining cybersecurity standards for IoT devices – such as baby monitors, home assistants, and smart locks. IoT manufacturers whose product meets those standards could display this certification to the public with a “Cyber Shield” label that will help consumers make informed decisions when purchasing IoT devices.
