CPJ urges Zambia to maintain access to internet services during elections

According to a news report, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has joined other human rights and technology organizations to write a letter to the Zambian president with a call on him to ensure that internet services are not disrupted during the general elections stated for 12 August 2021. CPJ and the other organisations, which together form the #KeepItOn coalition, urged the government of President Edgar Lungu to ensure “full internet access nationwide and refrain from arbitrarily blocking access to social media platforms such as Twitter, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook, and websites of media outlets throughout the election period and thereafter”.
