Controversy over the ban of VoIP services in Morocco

Earlier this year, it was reported that telecom providers in Morocco started blocking VoIP calls made via 3G and 4G networks. According to new media reports, the measure was extended last week to also cover VoIP calls made via WiFi networks. This has triggered significant social media campaigns against the operators, which seem to have decided to lift the measure meanwhile. What was initially reported to be a decision made by the operators themselves, with support from the national regulatory authority, was later on pictured by the operators as a measure imposed by the regulator.
