Controversial e-commerce bill criticised by Amazon rivals put on hold

According to a news report, the proposed California consumer bill titled ‘AB 3262’ which sought to apply rules meant for brick-and-mortar retailers to ‘electronic retail marketplaces’, will not advance to the next phase of the legislative process in its current form. This was communicated by the California Assembly member who introduced it. Apart from Amazon, all other major e-commerce business groups have criticised the  bill and its amendments saying the provisions of the bill has the tendency of stifling the growth of small businesses that sell their products online. The current hold up of the bill therefore goes to suggest that the views of dissenting players would be incorporated in order to ensure the bill addresses all concerns.
