Commonwealth model law on computer and computer related crime is adopted
The Commonwealth’s Model Law on Computer and Computer-Related Crime originated from a 1999 meeting of Law Ministers in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, addressing technology’s legal impact. An Expert Group drafted the law, drawing from the Council of Europe’s Budapest Convention on Cybercrime. Following revisions, a final draft was approved in 2002 in Kingstown, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines, aiding member states in creating cybercrime legislation. Law Ministers recommended periodic reviews to adapt to evolving technology and investigative methods, with the Model Law under review as of July 2017.
