CNIL published recommendations on algorithms and discrimination

The French data protection authority Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL) announced, together with the French independent authority Defender of Rights, the Recommendations on preventing discriminatory practices in relation to algorithms

CNIL noted that digital tools are often based on algorithms which can lead to biased data and outlined measures to prevent such discrimination.The measures include raising awareness of professionals, increasing transparency about the use of algorithms in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and undertaking impact assessment to predict potential discriminatory effects resulting from algorithms.
