Climate diplomacy aims to turn digital

Following the announcement that the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26)  to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is being postponed to November 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; a number of climate change experts have called for the digitalisation of climate change diplomacy. They highlighted that this moment is a unique opportunity to improve transparency and accessibility to the UNFCCC. The experts also emphasised that ‘Digital COP26 – Part 1’ could facilitate informal discussions and improve the participation of businesses, research communities, and the civil society.
