Chinese government plans to foster highly technical solutions to environmental problems
China has initiated a new action plan to foster the development of technical solutions to environmental challenges. The strategy is backed by tax incentives and research support and is intended to help the country to achieve its climate targets.
Days before the start of COP27, the Ministry of Science and Technology and other government departments of China published a new action plan to build a ‘green technology innovation system’ by 2025. Using tax incentives and research support, the plan will address complex environmental challenges faced by the country and will help to meet its climate targets through the development of innovative green technologies. The plan will use big data, biotech, and artificial intelligence to resolve environmental problems including pollution, climate change, and the destruction of ecosystems.
