Chinese government invests in an AI technology park

In line with its Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, announced in 2017, China is set to build a technology park specifically targeted at artificial intelligence (AI) companies. The investment, with a value of about USD$2.1 billion, is to materialise in a park that could host over 400 AI companies, will rely on a 5G network and supercomputers, and will focus on areas such as high-speed big data, cloud computing, biometric identification, and deep learning. The project is expected to be completed within three to five years.
