China’s embassy in the Philippines denied the Phillippines government’s claim that Chinese hackers tried to attack various websites, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s personal site last month.

The embassy stated that the Chinese government does not tolerate cyberattacks and does not allow any country or entity to engage in such acts. A spokesperson from the Chinese embassy stated, ‘The Chinese government all along firmly opposes and cracks down on all forms of cyber attack in accordance with law, allows no country or individual to engage in cyber attack and other illegal activities on Chinese soil or using Chinese infrastructure.’

While the Filipino government did not allege that the hackers were linked to the government, they mentioned that evidence was found that they were using the services of the Chinese state-owned company Unicom. However, Unicom has yet to respond to the allegation.
