China, Pakistan propose approach to e-commerce negotiations

China and Pakistan have introduced a potential ‘pragmatic solution’ for e-commerce, during the World Trade Organization (WTO) Council for Trade in Goods meeting, by proposing to work on the promotion and facilitation of cross-border trade in goods enabled by the Internet.[link] This would enable e-commerce to be addressed within the existing mandate, leading to a successful 2017 Ministerial meeting. China also proposed a seminar on e-commerce and trade in goods. Pakistan said it was ready to engage with other WTO members to continue work on e-commerce
