Bulgarian government websites targeted by DDoS attacks

Bulgarian government websites face DDoS attacks; attributed to Russian cybercrime group Killnet, targeting various official and private entities in Bulgaria.

On 15 October 2022, the Bulgarian government was exposed to a wave of DDoS attacks. According to various local reports, traffic flooded the websites of the Bulgarian president, the National Revenue Agency, and the departments of internal affairs, defence, and justice.

The campaign also targeted telecom businesses, airports, banks, and a few media outlets, Sofia Globe reported.

Bulgaria’s National Investigation Service is said to have indicated that authorities had identified the suspects at originating in the Russian city of Magnitogorsk. But other sources argued that the Russian cybercrime group Killnet had already claimed responsibility for the DDoS attacks.
