Broadband Commission urges use of ICTs to accelerate progress towards the SDGs

The Broadband Commission has issued a statement in which it urges attendees to the UN High-Level Political Forum ‘to show their support for the global roll-out of broadband infrastructure and broadband enabled applications and services to ensure inclusive economic growth and lift people out of poverty around the world.’ According to the Commission, broadband can drive growth and sustainability, helps addressing basic needs, can lifts people out of poverty, improve health services, and monitor climate change. In sum, ‘broadband networks are vital for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).’
