The Brazilian Government plans to exempt IoT devices from certain fees

Mr Gabriel Fiuza de Bragança, undersecretary for regulation and markets at the Brazilian Ministry of Economy, announced that the Brazilian government plans to exempt Internet of things (IoT) devices and very-small-aperture terminals (VSAT) from certain fees from next year. This decision aims to promote the IoT ecosystem within the Brazilian industry. Last year, the constitution and justice committee of Brazil’s lower house of Congress passed a bill that was supposed to reduce the fees for IoT and machine-to-machine (M2M) devices, but the bill was not voted on in the full chamber.
