Brazilian authorities require WhatsApp to revise its terms of use

The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, the National Data Protection Authority, the Federal Public Ministry and the National Consumer Secretariat asked WhatsApp to postpone the deadline for users to accept the new privacy policies. Currently, users have until 15 May 2021 to accept changes made by the platform to its terms of use. WhatsApp may block access from the platform to those who decide not to agree with the new terms of the policy. The authorities consider that the new terms of use may violate users’ personal data rights and competition laws.
