Bombay High Court to demand specific body to screen vulgar content in web seriees

The Nagpur Branch of the Bombay High Court sent a notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Nagpur Police Commissioner asking to set up a specific body to control pornographic content, nudity and vulgarity in web series.

The Court’s notice stems from a litigation case seeking regulation on the exhibition of uncertified, sexually-explicit and vulgar content available online on channels such as Netflix,  Amazon Prime, Hotstar and similar platforms. The Court asked the Ministries to take effective steps in order to tackle such disturbing trend and submit a reply by the 31st of October.
