Belgium to introduce digital wallet

Belgium’s State Secretary for Digitalisation Mathieu Michel, says that the government has set aside €50 million for a digital wallet initiative where all residents of Belgium will bundle their documents digitally. This will avoid residents having to carry physical copies of the documents and therefore ease administrative processes. The system will connect all government systems and also create platforms through which residents can engage with the government and also see data that the government has about them. The system is expected to be in place by 2023.
