Belarusian president discusses the creation of new personal data protection authority

According to BelTa, the establishment of a personal data protection authority has been discussed at a government meeting hosted by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. After a legislation was adopted earlier this year to protect individuals’ rights in relation to their personal data, Lukashenko stated “the government and the Operations and Analysis Center believe that a separate authority should be set up to supervise the observance of this law”.
