Belarus adopts draft personal data protection law

According to the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the House of Representatives of Belarus has adopted a draft personal data protection law. The draft law defines categories of personal data, determines the process for cross-border transfers, establishes the creation of an authorized oversight body and sets responsibilities for violations. The parliamentary text states that “the adoption of this law will ensure an appropriate level of protection of personal data and will contribute to the development of business, trade and economic relations of the Republic of Belarus with other states.”
