Bangladesh government urged to lift Internet restrictions at Rohingya refugee camps

The Human Rights Watch (HRW) and 50 other organisations, have called for the lift of Internet restrictions and halting of building a barb-wire fencing in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar District of Bangladesh in a joint letter. Whilst the petition commended the government for hosting the Rohingya refugees who were forced to flee atrocities perpetrated by the Myanmar Army, it stressed that unrestricted access to information via the Internet is vital in getting useful information that will help slow the spread of the Coronavirus.
