Austrian Supreme court about information that need to be presented by online traders

The Austrian Supreme Court recently clarified which information must be presented, and in on what manner, to consumers shopping online. The decision concerned the case of a website that sold furniture online. In the order process, the consumer was able to access all the product details by clicking on the relevant product. However, in the shopping basket, only some information about the product was displayed (e.g. delivery time), but the specifics (e.g. dimensions) were missing. The consumer still had the option to access the specifics of the product with all the details, by clicking on the specific subpage link in the shopping basket. The Austrian Supreme Court ruled that that was not enough, and that an online retailer must enable the consumer, directly before the consumer places the order, to grasp the essential points of the contract at a glance.
