Austrian Post fined €9.5 million for GDPR violations
According to the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the Austrian Data Protection Authority issued a fine of €9.5 million to the Austrian Post, alleging it has not enabled data protection inquiries via email. The postal service said it will appeal against the decision. ComplianceWeek reports that in October 2019 the Austrian postal service had already received an €18 million fine for processing personal data on the alleged political affinity of affected data subjects. That fine had however been annulled in a court decision in November 2020.
