Arizona (US): legislation requiring state institutions to move to cloud computing

The legislature in Arizona (US) has elaborated legislation that would require state institutions to migrate their IT resources and operations in the cloud. Under this legislation, a ‘two-year hardware, platform and software refresh evaluation cycle’ will be put in place for public institutions, which would need to ‘evaluate and progressively migrate [their] information technology assets to use a commercial cloud computing model or cloud model as defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’. To become enforceable, the legislation needs to be signed by Arizona’s governor. Source
