Arizona Supreme Court upholds airport fee for ride-hailing companies

Arizona’s Supreme Court ruled in favor of the US$4 pickup fee charged from Uber and Lyft at the Phoenix airport. Lawyers successfully argued that higher fees were not new taxes on services but instead permissible charges for businesses to use the airport. They related the ride-hailing fees to rent and landing fees paid by restaurants and airline companies. Uber and Lyft had threatened to stop serving the airport,  which is one of the busiest airports of the USA, in face of the fees.
