Apple and Google release draft of contact tracing Exposure Notification system

Apple and Google have released draft documentation for their privacy-preserving contact tracing Exposure Notification system. Some requirements for apps that use the Coronavirus tracking system are laid out as; (a) the apps cannot run any advertisements and collect any location data. (b) To further enhance privacy and security, each user will be asked for explicit consent to turn on the system, and it can be turned off by the user at any time. (c) The logged data is stored locally on the user’s device unless a user chooses to report their Coronavirus positive status through the system. CNN Business reported that the partnership could become a tipping point in the two tech giants’ longtime effort to gain a foothold in the healthcare industry.
