Anti-monopoly action against Google in Sweeden

Google remains confident in its defence as a class action lawsuit over Chrome’s data practices moves forward.

In Sweden, PriceRunner, a provider of price-comparison services, sued Google at the Patent and Market Court in Stockholm for a preliminary amount of almost €2.1 billion. Google is accused of not complying with a 2017 EC decision, which found that the company had breached EU competition law by giving unfair advantage to its own comparison shopping services on its search engine. By continuing to abuse its dominant position, PriceRunner argues, Google is harming not only competitors, but also consumers, ‘who overpay when shopping online’.
