Amsterdam to allow Airbnb rentals after court order

The city of Amsterdam was compelled by local court to allow residents of its historic centre to rent their properties to tourists again on Airbnb. Amsterdam’s city council issued a ban on rental through Airbnb and other platforms dedicated to short-term rentals in 2020. The city aimed at to curb the nuisance caused by tourists in the old city centre. A local court lifted the ban immediately after an association of property owners brought the case on the grounds that the city had no legal basis to ban short-term rentals. The ruling allows homeowners to rent out their properties through Airbnb for up 30 nights per year to a group of no more than four at a time.
