Amazon’s Echo Dot Kids under scrutiny for recording sensitive information

A coalition of NGOs has filed a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against Amazon’s Echo Dot Kids smart speaker. According to TechCrunch, the complaint argues that Amazon violates the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), by failing to obtain consent for the use of children data and providing information to parents. US lawmakers have invited the FTC to open an investigation into the matter since then.
