Amazon sues European Commission over Italian antitrust investigation

Amazon has filed a lawsuit against the European Commission for allowing the Italian competition authority to pursue an independent case against Amazon’s practices of selecting sellers. The company argues that this investigation should be led by the European Commission and not by a national antitrust watchdog. The case is brought up at the General Court of the European Union under T-19/21. The European Commission had already opened an investigation into Amazon regarding the company’s criteria for selecting sellers that have direct access to customers’ ‘buy box’.
