Amazon launches instant-order IoT buttons in the UK, Germany, and Austria

Amazon has launched its physical instant purchase buttons (the Dash Buttons) in the UK, Germany, and Austria, bringing the Internet of Things closer to users in these countries. The buttons are linked to user’s Amazon accounts, and allow users to instantly order replacement for products such as toothbrush heads, washing up liquid, coffee, etc. They are set up using Amazon’s smartphone app for Android and iOS, connecting to them via Bluetooth or ultrasonics. The buttons stay dormant until pressed, connecting to home Wi-Fi networks and placing an order on the first time they are pressed. The account holder is notified of the order, and can change the quantity or cancel it. Dash buttons were first introduced in the US in March late year. More details here and here.
