Amazon calls for federal anti-price gouging law to protect US consumers
Amazon has called on the US Congress to enact an anti-price gouging law to ensure protection of consumers. Brian Huseman, head of public policy for the Americas at Amazon, in a blog post said price gouging is an offence during times of crises in about two-thirds of the USA. Huseman added that ‘the disparate standards among states present a significant challenge for retailers working to assist law enforcement, protect consumers, and comply with the law’. Amazon said it remains ready to collaborate and work with congressional leaders on an effective and timely legislation to combat price gouging and protect consumers across the USA.
