Amazon and the EU start settlement discussions
Amazon Inc and the European Union have started settlement discussions about Amazon’s e-book deals with publishers. The EU launched an antitrust investigation into Amazon’s practices last year, examining ‘whether Amazon’s contracts prevent competitors from developing new products and limit competition between sellers of e-books’. In addition, the EU is in the process of investigating Amazon’s tax arrangements with Luxembourg.
