Airbnb to cancel reservations of individuals associated with hate groups in Washington DC

Airbnb announced it will analyse all Washington DC reservations and cancel the bookings regarding individuals found to be related to hate groups. Individuals engaged in the riots of the Capitol on 6 January will be permanently excluded from the platform. Airbnb has published a seven-step ‘Capitol Safety Plan’, which includes: (a) screening hosts and guests against regulatory, terrorism, and sanctions watch lists; (b) additional security checks; communicating to all booking guests at the Capitol Region that any plans to incite violence are immediately subject to legal action; (c) engaging the host community to contact Airbnb trained crisis staff in case of any suspected action; (d) establishing a neighbor support line to connect neighbors and hosts in Washington D.C. and Maryland; among other measures.
