Air New Zealand to trial digital health passport

Air New Zealand will trial a digital COVID-19 vaccine passport – the IATA Travel Pass developed by the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) – in April 2021 on flights between Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia. The airline is in discussions with governments about integrating the IATA Travel Pass into vaccination and testing procedures. The press release said that the digital health passport does not use a centralised database to store personal information. The airline’s Chief Digital Officer Jennifer Sepull commented that by having a place to store health credentials digitally in one place, it will not only speed up the check-in process but unlock the potential for contactless travel.
