AI outperform radiologists in breast cancer detection

A study published in the Lancet Digital Health found that the artificial intelligence (AI) showed better performance in detecting breast cancer compared with radiologists. The performance level of AI was AUROC 0.940, while the radiologists without AI assistance scored 0.810. Moreover, in the AI assisted study, the performance of radiologists improved to 0.881. The findings support the application of AI to mammograms as a cancer diagnostic support tool.
