AI is expected to further disrupt jobs held by African Americans

The consultancy McKinsey estimates that artificial intelligence (AI) will eradicate 4.5 million jobs held by African American workers by 2030. AI and automation will have higher impact on jobs like office support secretaries, fast-food and service workers. Nearly 36% of employment in these three different areas will disappear or be replaced with much lower-paying work. African Americans are overrepresented in these jobs. The disparate impact of AI might deepen the wealth gap among Americans, according to the study.
