Accenture study reveals ‘growth is stalling and IoT has not yet filled the gap

Findings from the 2016 Accenture Digital Consumer Survey indicate that the smartphone market is reaching maturity, and demand is declining for new tablets and laptops. At the same time, IoT has not yet ignited growth due to the cost of these devices, as well as out of security concerns regarding their usage, as ‘nearly half (47 percent) of consumers cited ‘privacy risk/security concerns’ as a barrier to adoption’. To ignite the IoT market, consumer protection and consumer trust need to be enhanced.
