5G in Cambodia
Cambodia wants to be the first country in ASEAN to deploy 5G technology. Major telcos in Cambodia, such as Smart Axiata and Cellcard, are rolling out 5G base stations backed by Huawei Technologies and ZTE.
Smart Axiata’s CEO said that equipment for Smart’s 5G project in the capital, Phnom Penh, was being set up and field tests were almost finished. In a recent interview with Nikkei, he said that Smart will use next generation technology from Huawei, which also supplied the gear for its existing 4G network.
