1000 new gTLDs now delegated

Almost five years after ICANN officially launched the Programme for new generic top level domains (new gTLDs), there are now 1000 new gTLDs delegated into the root zone of the domain name system. According to Domain Incite, the first new gTLDs were added in late October 2013, while the 1000th domain was delegated on 24 May. At the moment, there are 1314 TLDs in the root zone in total (including country code top level domains (ccTLDs), in addition to gTLDs).
