Strategy for the development of information society and security in the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2021 to 2026

The Government of Serbia adopted the Strategy for the Development of the Information Society and Information Security in the Republic of Serbia from 2021 to 2026 on 26 August 2021. This cross-sectoral strategy aims to foster an information society and e-government that meet the needs of citizens and businesses while also improving information security for the general public, public administration, and businesses.


The strategy encompasses two areas: the information society and information security, the further development of which represents a precondition for the complete digitalization of the society.

Key objectives of the strategy include:

  • Enhancing all citizens’ digital knowledge and skills, including vulnerable groups, through the implementation of the Strategy of Digital Skills Development in the Republic of Serbia 2020-2024 and the Action Plan for the implementation of the Digital Skills Development Strategy in the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2020 to 2024.
  • Improving digital infrastructure in educational institutions, including the provision of school furnishings as one of its specific objectives for basic education.
  • Attracting foreign investment, deepening the digital transformation across the public and private sectors, and promoting economic growth in line with EU targets.
  • Ensuring information security of ICT systems of particular importance and security of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the security of citizens and businesses, mainly through the fight against cybercrime.
