ASEAN Agreement on Electronic Commerce

In this document, the members of ASEAN (Asociation of South-East Asian Nations) recognized the power and role of e-commerce and defined the implementation, facilitation and future development of e-comerce in the ASEAN region. As per the agreement, ASEAN member states should provide a legal and regulatory enviroment and encourage e-comerce transactions and cross border activities. The document also outlines that member states should also cooperate in the field of ICT Infrastructure,online consumer protection,cybersecurity etc. In this broader context, ASEAN states should focus on the field of paperless trading, cross border transfer of informations, logistics, and electronic payment.
