[Update] GIP head and Diplo director Dr Jovan Kurbalija will be addressing the panel on the IANA transition in the context of business innovation and commercial interests such as intellectual property rights. The panel, Bold New World: Navigating the Ever-Changing Internet, will take place on Thursday, 1st December, at 11:30-13:00 CET.

The International Trademark Association’s Digital World Conference: Navigating the Digital Yellow Brick Road will take place on 1-2 December 2016, in Brussels, Belgium.

In the context of a fast-paced and ever-changing digital world, with continuous changes in the parameters of online commerce and the flow of information, the conference will explore the impact that such changes have or may have on current and future businesses. Some of the main topics to be discussed during the event include: the EU Digital Agenda; the IANA stewardship transition and what this means for businesses in Europe and beyond; the relation between geographical indicators and the Internet; how non-traditional trademarks fit into the digital world; privacy and data protection; and disruptive business models and technologies. It will also shed more light on the subject of copyright protection and enforcement, the mobile economy, and online and digital advertising.
